Trying to narrow down the best honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean? The Caribbean is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations among newlyweds for good reason.
With its endless white beaches, palm-dotted coastlines, diverse activities and romantic resorts, it’s got a wealth of dreamy honeymoon spots to suit every couple, budget and interest.
But with so much to choose from, it can be tough to decide where to celebrate your first blissful days of married life!
Since 2009, I’ve travelled to over 50 countries and spent time in the world’s most beautiful locations throughout the Caribbean and beyond.
So if you’re undecided on which country to pick for your trip of a lifetime, I’ve narrowed down the options and selected my absolute fave honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean for you to choose from.
They’re also great choices for a vow renewal, romantic getaway for two or destination wedding.
Looking to plan an affordable honeymoon? I’ve included plenty of handy tips to help you save money! And some posh new luxury resorts worth the splurge.
1. Saint Lucia: A Luxury Honeymoon with Views
Regarded by many as the most beautiful island in the Caribbean, St. Lucia is one of the most popular destinations for couples.
Its lush, mountainous landscape offers stunning views from many vantage points and it’s got several picture-perfect boutique and all-inclusive resorts to choose from including the iconic Jade Mountain (and the less pricey alternative the Stonefield Estate Resort).
When it comes to things to do, St. Lucia is the ideal honeymoon getaway for nature lovers. From a walk along Soufriere village to a trek up the Piton mountains, St. Lucia has lots to satisfy adventurous couples.
But its appeal means St. Lucia also has a reputation for being expensive. Just like anywhere, in highly touristed zones, vendors often jack up prices for unsuspecting travellers.
The key to creating an affordable honeymoon on St. Lucia is to avoid eating and shopping in the tourist traps of Rodney Bay. Instead, check out less touristy places in Gros Islet.
Another savvy approach is to choose a St. Lucia all inclusive resort where you can establish your budget in advance. One of my fave honeymoon resorts is Sandals Grande St. Lucian set on a white sand beach and home to enticing dining options.
Or opt for a stunning view with room service from your own private infinity pool at Sandals Regency Le Toc – everything is included so there are so surprises.
Just effortless indulgence for two.

🌟 Pro Tip: Want stunning views and lush volcanic mountains without the high price tag? Check out these cheap hotels in Grenada, the “Spice Island” in the Eastern Caribbean.
2. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic: All-inclusive Beach Escapes
Also at the top of the list of best Caribbean honeymoon destinations is the Dominican Republic.
And while there are lots of great places for couples to visit — from the historic capital of Santo Domingo to laid back Cabarete — the best choice for beautiful white sand beaches, luxury all-inclusive resorts and romance is Punta Cana.
Situated on the island’s north coast, the beaches of Punta Cana feature the quintessential swaying palm trees, turquoise blue water, fabulous cuisine and stretches of powder-soft sand everyone dreams of when planning a tropical honeymoon.
Bavaro Beach is also the perfect place for couples who love water sports, crystal clear waters and long beach walks. Nearby Cap Cana is more secluded.
🌟 Pro Tip: The best time to visit to enjoy its famous white sands is outside the peak of sargassum seaweed season (May to October).
Thd Dominican Republic also has the newest all-inclusive resorts. That means you’ll have the widest choice of room and resort amenities from swim-out suites, private cabanas, private plunge pools, butler service and other honeymoon must-haves.
Many of them are adults-only – which ramps up the romance factor.
Some of our favourite all-inclusive resorts for couples in Punta Cana include Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa Punta Cana, The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana Bavaro Beach and Sanctuary Cap Cana.

💡 Pro Tip: Why not let your friends and family treat you to an unforgettable experience rather than a second coffee maker on your wedding gift registry? If you already have what you need, then a room upgrade, a romantic dinner or a couples massage might be the ideal gift. Secrets Resorts offers a Honeymoon Wishes Registry you can create free online.
3. Cayman Islands: Natural Beauty, Posh Dining and Diving
One of the best best honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean, the Cayman Islands are home to palm-tree dotted white sand beaches — such as swoon worthy Seven Mile Beach — that don’t seem to end.
Known as a tax haven for the world’s elite, it’s also a popular honeymoon destination for celebrities and the ultra wealthy.
This island territory offers much more than beaches and tax breaks though. It is also famous for its diving and amazing marine wildlife.
Stingray City is a group of shallow sandbars where couples can enjoy an unforgettable experience snorkeling with stingrays. Another popular spot is Bloody Bay Marine Park, one of the best diving destinations in the Caribbean.
And if you and your partner are both foodies and want to indulge, you’re in luck on the Cayman Islands. It’s a gastronomic hub for fine-dining.
Celebrity chefs include Eric Ripert, the French-born chef, author, and television personality who helms Blue, a seafood restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton.
Although the Caymans are a playground for the elite, you don’t need to spend a lot of money. There are also budget options in Cayman for those who don’t have a bottomless bank account.
For an unforgettable honeymoon, couples who enjoy diving should head to Cayman Brac Beach Resort where all-inclusive packages bundle meals with diving.
Another affordable option is Little Cayman Beach Resort, a dive-centric boutique resort where couples can enjoy as much quiet time or excitement as they wish.
Newlyweds looking for an elegant resort on Seven Mile Beach should consider the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman. Its oceanfront setting, Great Lawn and indulgent spa make it a popular destination wedding and honeymoon spot.
4. Jamaica: Laid Back Elegance
Often considered the best Caribbean island for couples, Jamaica has long been a popular destination for honeymooners due to its unique combination of warm hospitality, lush landscapes and five-star amenities.
A time-honoured choice is Round Hill Hotel and Villas. Built in 1953 and situated west of Montego Bay amid rolling green hills, Round Hill Hotel and Villas has long drawn A-listers and celebrities as well as newlywed couples.
Today’s honeymooners enjoy lounging around the villa’s private swimming pools draped by cascading bougainvillea.
Another romantic option is Half Moon Resort estate set in a grove of graceful palm trees, white sand beaches (man-made), tennis and squash courts, the Fern Tree Spa, horseback riding and a championship golf course.
Montego Bay also happens to be one of the best places to go scuba diving in Jamaica. Its protected offshore waters are home to a wealth of underwater structures, arches and caverns teeming with marine life.
For those looking for a wellness-themed all-inclusive resort experience, Zoetry Montego Bay offers a secluded beach, romantic suites and easy access to Montego Bay attractions, shopping, dining and golf.
Laid-back lovers should head for Seven Mile Beach. It’s Negril’s beach of choice offering a relaxed vibe with reggae music, barefoot luxury and white sand beaches.
There’s also a wealth of things to do in Negril, Jamaica.
At Couples Swept Away you can dine by torchlight at sunset, swing in a hammock over soft sands or float with starfish in its clear, blue waters.
It’s a dream honeymoon that’s also an adventure for the senses.
Negril’s beaches are among the best Caribbean beaches for a honeymoon in June, July or August. They’re generally unaffected by sargassum seaweed.

5. Mexico: Budget-Friendly Adventure
While not as exotic as far flung destinations like Bora Bora, Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula is one of the most practical options for a Caribbean honeymoon destination.
In addition to the advantage of its proximity to North America and Europe, Mexico is also one of the most affordable Caribbean destinations.
It’s even cheaper than South East Asia!
Also appealing is the wide choice of adult-only and all-inclusive resorts in Cancun and Riviera Maya. Tulum is fast becoming a top Mexican vacation spot for couples.
Draws are its beautiful beaches, boho-vibe and selection of luxury all-inclusive resorts and boutique hotels.
There also happens to be a wide selection of luxury glamping accommodations in Tulum. They’re perfect for creating an unforgettable honeymoon experience.
Choose from treehouse villas set in the jungle, romantic tents set on the beach, cabanas with plunge pools and more.
Despite its popularity, there are still many hidden spots to discover. My personal favourites are Xpu-Ha, Puerto Morelos, and Mahahual as they offer Caribbean white-sand beaches minus the hordes of tourists.
They also tend to be more affordable.
And they’re proof that a quiet honeymoon is still possible in Mexico!
Aside from the beautiful beaches and world-class diving in Mexico, there are also ancient Mayan ruins and amazing cenotes scattered around the Yucatan.
You can even stay in an adults-only resort set on its own cenote.
At Hotel Xcaret Arte you can swim from your honeymoon suite right into a meandering river complete with waterfalls, underground passageways and hidden coves.
There are so many romantic things to do for couples!
Traveling between cities along the Yucatan peninsula is very easy. From Cancun, it is an easy bus trip to other beautiful coastal towns such as Akumal.
So you can actually combine several romantic destinations and hotels into one honeymoon trip.
Check rates and availability at Secrets Akumal Resort & Spa on Booking.com
And if those aren’t enough reason to choose Mexico’s Caribbean coast for a honeymoon, how about an escape to an offshore island such as Isla Mujeres?
For a honeymoon splurge, boutique-sized Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets offers a stunning setting on a private white sand beach. Your luxury experience even includes arrival by private catamaran!
Beach hammocks, Bali beds, butler service, unlimited dining and top-shelf drinks, breakfast in bed. All this (and more) are part of their appealing Honeymoon, Destination Wedding and Vow Renewal Packages.
Check rates and availability of Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets on Booking.com.
6. St. Kitts and Nevis: Best Caribbean Honeymoon Hideaway
There’s nothing quite like a Caribbean island with the patina of antiquity to add a spirit of enduring romance.
On Nevis (the smaller, more luxurious island of the dual state of St. Kitts & Nevis) in the British West Indies, Montpelier Plantation & Beach is an intimate Relais & Châteaux boutique hotel set on the site of an 18th century sugar cane plantation.
It’s a unique alternative to the large cookie cutter resorts you’ll find on some Caribbean islands. You can even have a photo shoot beneath the same ficus tree that witnessed the wedding of renowned Admiral Horatio Nelson and plantation owner’s daughter Frances ‘Fanny’ Nisbet in 1787.
Be sure to check out Montpelier’s Honeymoon Packages including a candlelight dinner, couples massages and more.
There are lots of things to do in Nevis! Hike Mount Nevis, snorkel at Oualie Beach and explore the atmospheric capital of Charlestown. It’s where Alexander Hamilton — immortalized in the famous Broadway musical “Hamilton” was born.
With its burnished historic structures this Caribbean island delivers a fairytale experience and luxury at every turn.
For beachfront luxury, opt for the Four Seasons Resort Nevis where you can rub shoulders with celebrities or hideaway in a beach cabana on one of the best beaches in the Caribbean.
7. Honeymoon in Belize: Under-the Radar Caribbean
One of the most underrated honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean, Belize offers more than white-sand beaches.
It’s also rich in culture, history and outdoor attractions.
The best known attraction in Belize is the Blue Hole, a marine sinkhole that’s one of the largest natural formations of its kind.
It’s part of the Belize Barrier Reef, itself a third of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
From the capital city, it’s two hours north to Mexico, three hours west to Guatemala, and about four hours south to Honduras.
It’s so compact it’s easy to reach popular honeymoon destinations from different parts of the country.
Most visitors include the Cayes like Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker on their Belize honeymoon itinerary. If you want to spend your honeymoon diving, these two islands are ideal starting points.
But if you want to opt for relaxation, Placencia is a good alternative. I actually prefer the beaches in Placencia!
Plus it’s a short jaunt to San Ignacio, a fantastic honeymoon spot for adventure-seeking couples who want to be immersed in the soothing sights and sounds of a rainforest setting.
One top choice, San Ignacio Resort Hotel features resort-class amenities combined with adventure tours to archaeological parks, caves and nature reserves. There’s even a Honeymoon Suite with butler service!
Another appealing jungle resort is The Lodge at Chaa Creek where environmental sustainability is part of every aspect of the operation and guest experience.
Set on a 400 acre nature reserve, attractions include cave tubing, jungle waterfalls, wildlife sanctuaries and Mayan ruins.
Their all-inclusive honeymoon packages make this a low-stress way to reconnect with nature and each other.
Budget wise, Belize is the most expensive country in Central America. But it’s also one of the most affordable Caribbean destinations!

8. Aruba: Luxe Fun in the Sun
If budget is not an issue, there’s nothing better than spending your honeymoon in Aruba.
One of the best honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean, it’s known for pristine beaches such as Palm and Eagle Beach, stunning desert landscapes and fantastic sunny weather.
For beach lovers, Aruba is also one of the best Caribbean islands without seaweed. That’s important if you’re planning a honeymoon during sargassum seaweed season.
But Aruba sometimes has a reputation of being expensive and only for honeymooners with a large budget.
While it’s true that even budget high rise hotels can go from $200 USD night, the cost for dining is about the same as eating out in any major city in North America.
That’s especially true if you eat where the locals eat in Aruba.
And you do get the added advantage of amazing ocean views available at many of the most romantic restaurants in Aruba.
If you’ve got your heart set on Aruba but need to watch your budget, it’s also possible to book a timeshare in Aruba or adult-only luxury apartment with a kitchen.
That way you can save money by eating some meals at home.
Plus, there are lots of things to do in Aruba to help you manage your budget!
Ride the free trolley around the colourful capital of Oranjestad. Or explore the dramatic street art in San Nicolas.
If you want to save even more money, I recommend travelling between April and August. Prices often decrease during this season and it can be less crowded.
Also consider these top resorts and hotels in Bonaire and all-inclusive resorts in Curaçao, islands outside the hurricane belt in the Dutch Caribbean.

9. St. Barts: Best Honeymoon Island for European Flair
Beach butlers, Michelin-trained chefs, designer boutiques, haute resorts–all set amid a constellation of the Caribbean’s prettiest beaches.
A honeymoon on the posh island of Saint Barthélemy is the epitome of Caribbean romance.
This exclusive island offers the perfect blend of European sophistication and charm, ideal for cosmopolitan couples. On Saint Barthélemy, it’s almost effortless to soak up some French flair.
A 10-minute flight from St. Maarten’s modern new Princess Juliana International airport, Saint Barthélemy (usually abbreviated as St. Barth’s or St. Bart’s) serves as a high wattage playground to celebrities, A-Listers and billionaires.
There are lots of unforgettable things to do in St. Barts but for beach club quality time, be sure to stop at La Plage, a beachfront restaurant on Baie de St. Jean.
This beautiful beach is a fave among celebrities. It’s also home to chic Nikki Beach Restaurant and Beach Club.
Don’t be surprised if you see Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz or Beyoncé and Jay-Z enjoying paparazzi-free time here.
Evenings, the beach buzzes with DJs, fire spinners and dance parties but afternoons are low key, a time to slip off your sandals, indulge in some grilled lobster and relax.
With so such star power around, you’ll want to look your beach best. St. Bart’s is a duty free port. So head to Gustavia Harbour to browse the luxury boutiques within the Carré d’Or shopping enclave.
You’ll find designer brands such as Hermès as well as boho chic Vanita Rosa, a French collection popular with Kate Moss and Jane Fonda.
Still wondering if high-end St. Bart’s is a slice of paradise for Celeb-favorite hotels and villas such as Eden Rock are private hideaways offering private pools, stunning ocean views and top-notch service.
Another warm welcome for honeymooning couples awaits at Cheval Blanc, a member of the LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy) collection.
Set on glitzy Les Flamands beach, this sexy resort’s soothing salmon pink and taupe décor is understated yet glamorous.
10. Antigua and Barbuda: Best Honeymoon Beaches
Wrapping up our list of top honeymoon destinations in the Caribbean is the dual island country of Antigua and Barbuda. With 365 beaches to choose from, this is the ideal spot for beach lovers.
Especially popular among couples is all-inclusive Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa, set on dreamy Dickenson Bay.
Some of the most romantic guest rooms at Sandals Grande Antigua are the aptly-named Love Nest Butler Suites with private pools steps to the pearl-white sand of Dickenson Beach.
Another romantic resort for honeymooners is Blue Waters Resort & Spa. Set on a private bay on Antigua’s northwestern shore, this serene property offers gourmet French-Caribbean cuisine at The Cove Restaurant.
Or do as celebrities do and stay at Hodges Bay Resort, a tropical hideaway that’s a magnet for A-listers.
This boutique resort is conveniently located to experience the top things to do in Antigua from the famous Shirley Heights parties to sampling Antiguan local cuisine.
Immerse yourself in even more wonders on neighbouring Barbuda, accessible by ferry, flight, private yacht or helicopter charter from Antigua.
Here, the main draws are rose-hued Pink Sand Beach and romantic toes-in-the sand dining at Princess Diana Beach.
This ribbon of crystal-white sand was a favourite of Diana, Princess of Wales and is now home to Robert de Niro’s Nobu Barbuda.
Final Tips on Caribbean Honeymoon Planning
No matter which one of these Caribbean honeymoon destinations you choose for your celebrations, they’re all perfect places to begin your new life together.
They’ll create memories that are uniquely yours and ones you’ll cherish forever.
Avoid problems, save money and get the most out of your travels by avoiding these common travel mistakes.
Caribbean Honeymoon Budget Tips
Don’t Confuse Caribbean Dollars for US Dollars: It’s easy to confuse Eastern Caribbean (or Jamaican) dollars for US or other dollar denominated currencies. Prices might be shown as EC$, J$ or just a $ sign.
It’s easy to overpay if you get currencies confused.
Don’t Overpay on Banking Fees: Banks may charge foreign transaction fees when you make a purchase or a withdrawal from an ATM.
Many credit card payment processors also impose a currency conversion fee to convert from one currency to another. Look into getting a credit card that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees.
Don’t Pay a DCC Fee: A dynamic currency conversion (DCC) fee offered at an ATM or merchant is OPTIONAL. It includes a commission and is almost always worse than market exchange rate.
To avoid paying the DCC fee, decline the exchange rate being offered. At merchants, opt to pay in local currency. Get the exchange rate at the going rate on the transaction date.

It is kind of sad that I am from the Caribbean and have only been to my island and DR. One day I want to explore more. My honeymoon was in Belize. I want to go back to the resort where we stayed in Ambergris Caye. I get such positive vibes every time I get one of their newsletters in my inbox.
Michele Peterson
It sounds as though you chose a beautiful spot for your honeymoon! I hope you’ll be able to visit more of the Caribbean, Ruth!

What a nice collection of Caribbean options you have assembled. We have put a few under our travel belt, but this is a good reminder that we have plenty more to visit. Looks like warmer weather is in our future.
