Hi Michele,

That 15 bucks extra is interesting but the cost is pretty solid, considering all the AC you tend to use in such hot, humid climes. I always pay a little extra to focus on comfort over cost. Although in a place like Cambodia about 5 years back, a $200 bill due to heavy AC usage raised my eyebrows LOL. Great share 🙂

I was very interested to read your article since my husband and I want to be able to perhaps go to a warm location for a month in the winter when he retires. Playa del Carmen sounds like a viable option that I will explore in more detail in another year or so! Thanks for providing such thorough information from your real-life experience.

Great post, Michele. I’m glad you mentioned the construction issue, as I, too, noticed this in Playa, and therefore preferred a more quiet setting in Puerto Morelos.

I adore that whole area of Mexico! Even though I’ve been many times, I always find new things to do, as well as enjoy doing some of my favorites again. My bucket list includes a 3-month stay, so your post with all the different rentals was very exciting!
