If you’re tempted to think all Secrets all inclusive resorts are the same, you’re going to want to read this post. I’ve stayed or visited six of the Secrets Resorts in Mexico.
While each offers the same “Luxury Unlimited” menu of services, individually they are actually quite different from each other when it comes to the beach, the architecture and even the vibe.
One of the most unique of the Secrets all-inclusive resorts is Secrets The Vine Cancun.
Unique Architecture at Secrets The Vine Cancun Architecture
Designed by The Rockwell Group (the same architecture and design firm that designed Nobu Hotel in Las Vegas and the refresh of The Time in NYC), Secrets The Vine’s glass and white metal exterior makes it feel more like a sleek urban hotel than tropical oasis.
It is ingeniously positioned at an east–west angle rather than fronting the ocean. It towers 18-storeys high which means guests receive fantastic views of the peninsula, the Caribbean and Nichupte Lagoon. The beach stretches uninterrupted for 14 miles along the coastline.

During my stay, I loved being able to watch the sun rise and set from my balcony. Flanked by the Caribbean Sea on one side and the Laguna Nichupte on the other, it’s blue as far as the eye can see.
My room overlooked the Terrace Pool where an etched glass and white metal façade creates an airy, undulating approach to the white sand. The Deluxe Ocean View Suite, offers a room of 475 square feet, plus another 110 on the balcony.
The east-west positioning of Secrets The Vine also means that unlike many other resorts within the Cancun hotel zone, the swimming pools receive more sunshine during the day.

While all Secrets all inclusive resorts are beautiful but Secrets The Vine takes this one step further and offers plenty of extra wow factor in its design. Within the pool area there’s a giant rain shower and a suspended boardwalk that floats above the sand and into the Caribbean Sea.
The suspended boardwalk reminds me of the Sky Bar at Secrets Huatulco, another Secrets Resort in Mexico that has incredible architecture.
Who Does Secrets The Vine Cancun Appeal To
Some of the Secrets all inclusive resorts seem to appeal to a younger demographic while others draw more baby boomers. Secrets The Vine appeals to both but can feels livelier than other Secrets Resorts as the main pool area is smaller.
Spa at Secrets The Vine
Upstairs in the 12,580 square foot Pevonia Spa located on the hotel’s 12th floor (third level) there’s a steam room, whirlpool, and expansive ocean views, something you don’t often see at Cancun Resorts where the spa is tucked in a lower level with few windows.
Here, the design of the spa’s hydrotherapy pools evokes the Yucatan’s natural cenotes with limestone pathways and reflecting pools. However it’s worth noting that the experience is indoors unlike Secrets Playa Mujeres which features large outdoor hydrotherapy water circuit.
Secrets The Vine Food and Wine
When it comes to dining, this Secrets The Vine offers seven restaurants (six a la carte and one buffet), a café, and six bar/lounges in addition to 24-hr room service.
Like all Secrets all inclusive resorts Secrets the Vine features a no–reservations policy. This means you can enjoy flexibility in your dining schedule and you don’t need to book a table in advance.
Secrets The Vine is especially appealing for wine aficionados. In addition to the quality house wine, you can order ( at extra charge) from the resort’s 4,500 bottle wine cellar. Wine tastings are held regularly in The Vine Bar located in the lobby overlooking the wine cellar.

Location: The adults-only Secrets The Vine Cancun is located in the Cancun Hotel Zone. Opened in August 2012, all suites feature balconies or terraces with views of the Caribbean Sea and Laguna Nichupte. It’s all-inclusive pricing includes 24-hour room service, eight luxury restaurants/grills/cafes and an extensive wine list. It’s also conveniently located near the Mayan Museum Cancun, one of Mexico’s best archeological museums.
Secrets The Vine Day Pass: Like many Secrets all inclusive resorts, Secrets The Vine Cancun offers day passes when the resort is not at full occupancy.
